RESTAURANT

At Church Road we cook with real heart, taking familiar, seasonal ingredients and presenting them in new, satisfying ways. Good produce is essential to us, and ours is from a select group of suppliers including farmers we know and respect from across the British Isles.
We are a proper old fashioned neighbourhood restaurant – warm and welcoming – and for us the ultimate compliment is a happy customer.

BAR

A beautiful space serving classic cocktails perfectly made. The bar at Church Road is a luxurious space offering delicious drinks made to recipes that have stood the test of time. You can come in for just a glass of wine and a small bite or a perfect Martini, should you feel like it.
It is the perfect place for a pre or post cinema drink in an elegant, civilised room.

our pop up wine room

Our beautiful private dining room space has been transformed into a pop up wine room.  Between 6pm and 9.30pm from Tuesday to Saturday (and on Saturday lunchtime)  you can sample wines on tap from the innovative team at Uncharted Wines. We are serving cheese and charcuterie from the people that supply both Angela Hartnett and the River Café. And, from our own kitchens, we have some wonderful anti-pasti, great pies and tempting puddings to enjoy.

TREADING LIGHTLY

Our primary purpose at Church Road is to run a restaurant that ensures that all those who choose to walk through our front door walk back out with a renewed sense of joie de vivre. Delicious food, warm and welcoming service and some good old fashioned hospitality is what Church Road is all about!

We aim to achieve this however with a wholly committed approach to looking after the environment and ensuring that all our suppliers go about their business ethically. We won’t be perfect in what we do but we will do a whole lot more than ‘talk the talk’ and every single member of our team knows our aims and how we plan to achieve them. We will focus our energies in four main areas.

  1. Sourcing
    • We source local, seasonal and unthreatened species and ingredients that have been produced, gathered or farmed ethically.
  2. Sustainability
    • We use suppliers, producers and farmers that operate sustainably and with animal welfare at the heart of their values.
  3. Resources
    • We minimise our consumption through clever waste management and controlled use of gas, electricity, water and plastic.
  4. Education
    • We invest in our team and encourage them to communicate what we do to those around us and further afield.

OUR TEAM

ALAN PARRY

South African born Alan moved to Scotland as a teenager. He studied sports science at Falkirk, and after graduating worked at a country house hotel in St Andrews. He caught the hospitality bug – he also met his future wife – the chef!

After a move to London and time spent at Zilli Fish and The Ivy. Alan and his wife Nina then moved back to her native New Zealand where they opened their own restaurant in Auckland in 2005.

Returning to the UK in 2016 Alan walked straight into a job at Elystan Street in Chelsea as Deputy General Manager and then moved to Sonny’s Kitchen in 2018.

Alan has the enviable combination of a friendly relaxed personality combined with endless energy and attention to detail. All the attributes of a great General Manager.

SAM ASTLEY-DEAN

Originally from Stockport, Sam’s passion for food was ignited by watching Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay on TV.

After catering college he started work at a local gastro pub but his talent was immediately clear and he soon moved to bigger kitchens including the Michelin starred The Grosvenor Chester.  From there he came to London working at Simon Rogan’s Fera at Claridges, then moving to Chez Bruce in Wansdworth.

He was talent spotted by Phil Howard and joined the kitchen at Elystan Street. Phil says Sam is “Curious, creative and a great communicator; he’s open minded and he’s always willing to listen and learn. Great qualities for a chef. “

In giving Sam his first head chef’s role Phil Howard & Rebecca Mascarenhas are confident that they’ve spotted a star who’ll put Church Road firmly on the culinary map.
